New investments in manufacturing technology PDF Print

BORRELL continues to invest in improvements to it's manufacturing process and product quality. We continue to expand our installations. In our efforts to improve production, during 2008 new equipment has been purchased to increase and improve our production process resulting in improved quality to our wide range of products.

In spite of the global economic crisis, we continue our work to improve our installations and investment in new technologies - in order to continue offering our customers first-class quality, combined with efficiency, at a competitive price.

NEW WELDING ROBOT

Due to the increased demand to produce larger welded parts and following the excellent results welding stainless steel using plasma technology we have updated our welding robot with the assistance of MOTOFIL Robotics, specialists in developing robotic welding systems.

Find out more: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasma_arc_welding).

Welding Robot is comprised of:

- Latest generation FANUC ARC Mate Robot, 6 axis model, precise to within 0,1mm and with a reach of 1800mm.

- 2 "X" & "Y" servopositioners, robot controlled axis with a 600 kg weight limit.

- Plasma Welding assembly controlled by SBI computer.

NEW AUTOMATIC "CNC" SAW (automatic metal cutting line)

BORRELL has installed a new cutting lines for pipes, rods, angles etc - fitted by SABI, which includes:

- Automatic feed and drag sistems

- Digitally controlled belt-saw with a cutting capacity of 0º to 60º and a cutting speed of 15 to 105m/minute.

- Marking head: This system is capable of marking each part with alphanumeric characters while it is being fed - very useful for identifying parts, lots or serial numbers.

- Drilling head: The system also allows drilling while the parts are being cut, allowing many pieces to be completely finished, ready for welding or mounting. The drilling diameters are from 5 to 31,75mm and the drill bit rotation speed can vary from 300-1200 rpm.

This new cutting line is completely computer controlled, and fully automated.

The main benefits are that this cutting system is more precise and much quicker - allowing us to reduce manufacture & delivery times whilst providing important costs savings per unit. This saving is of course passed on to the customer who also benefits from a superior quality product.

NEW COMPUTER CONTROLLED AUTOMATIC STORAGE SYSTEM

In an effort to improve Order Processing and allow better control and organisation of parts, we have installed a new Automatic Storage System - controlled by computer and connected to our Central Handling System (ERP).

The new LogiMat system supplied by FAT, S.A. represents a huge improvement in the organisation of small size stock components.

With a high-speed tray storage system (of different sizes and heights) the whole unit is nearly 7m tall.

The system is capable of storing up to 40,000 kgs in 87 different departments or trays, allowing instant access to parts which make up Part Orders or Manufacturing Orders - eliminating errors and saving time identifying parts. This new storage system also allows real-time stock control and part traceability.
