Borrell USA Hosted Almond Leadership Program Seminar in Merced, CA

On August 28, 2025, Borrell USA proudly hosted an Almond Leadership Program Seminar, organized by the Almond Board of California in collaboration with UC Merced. The event brought together industry leaders, researchers, and future professionals to explore the challenges and opportunities of the almond industry.

The day began at Borrell USA’s headquarters in Merced (240 Riggs Ave.), where participants were welcomed with a coffee break and a team-building activity. A facility tour followed, giving attendees an inside look at Borrell’s state-of-the-art equipment and technology, along with presentations on the company’s history and its continuous innovation in almond processing.

The morning sessions, led by Jose Roig Borrell, highlighted how technology and innovation are driving efficiency, quality, and sustainability across the almond sector.

After a mid-morning break, the seminar continued with discussions on the key challenges and goals of the industry, followed by a transfer to UC Merced for the afternoon program.

At UC Merced, participants enjoyed lunch while engaging in an industry knowledge exchange led by the Almond Leadership Program team. The afternoon sessions showcased UC Merced’s Smart Farm initiatives, the Almondry Project, and cutting-edge agricultural R&D led by UC faculty, concluding at 3:00 p.m.

Parking was available at both the 240 Riggs Ave. office lot (16 spaces) and at the 260 Riggs Ave. workshop lot.

This seminar was part of Borrell USA’s ongoing commitment to supporting education, innovation, and collaboration in California’s almond industry, and to fostering strong partnerships with research institutions such as UC Merced.
