IX International Symposium on Almonds and Pistachios
From May 3 to 7, 2026, BORRELL participated in the IX International Symposium on Almonds and Pistachios, held in Lleida, Spain. This international event is a reference point for the almond and pistachio sectors and was convened by Dr. Xavier Miarnau and Dr. Joaquim Bellvert, from IRTA, and organized under the framework of the International Society for Horticultural Science (ISHS).
The event brought together researchers, technicians, companies, growers, and professionals from different countries interested in sharing knowledge, analyzing the evolution of both crops, and learning about the main scientific, technological, and production trends shaping the future of almonds and pistachios at an international level.
Throughout the symposium, key topics were addressed, including varietal improvement, crop management, production efficiency, sustainability, fruit quality, postharvest, industrial processing, and new market challenges. The scientific sessions, technical presentations, and professional exchange spaces created a highly valuable environment for all stakeholders involved in these crops.
For BORRELL, this event was an excellent opportunity to further strengthen our presence in the sector’s leading international forums and to share our vision on the technological evolution of the almond and pistachio industry.
During the symposium, BORRELL presented its latest innovations in machinery and industrial solutions for nut processing, including technologies designed to improve efficiency, product quality, yield, and process automation. These include our solutions for almond and pistachio processing, the Borrell PistaCrack® range, the patented HyperQuadro® Smart-Adjust splitters, the new-generation Borrell Smart Sorter® Vision, and other advanced technologies for blanching, drying, slicing, flour production, and other high value-added processes.
BORRELL’s participation in this symposium reaffirms our commitment to innovation, collaboration with the sector, and the development of increasingly efficient, robust, and adaptable technological solutions tailored to the real needs of almond and pistachio growers and processors.
